Though Nokia found the previous year to be unkind with shrinking sales during the first three quarter, the surprise fact is that there has been a huge increase in the demand for Nokia phones during the holidays ,enabling the company to end the year with a consolidated net profit of 882 million euro. For a year that was  weighed down by a global economic downfall, this was really favourable

Nokia shipped around devices numbering to 126.9 million in Q4 2009,12 percent higher than Q4 of the year 2008 and 17 percent higher than Q3 of the year 2009,enabling it to generate a 12 billion euro revenue.

The largest manufacturer in the world has made an assessment of its share in the market to be 39%,much better compared to the 37% and 38% in Q4 of 2008 & Q3 of 2009 respectively.Reflecting on the sales during the full year, this is a one percent fall compared to the full previous year.

The  division of Nokia-Siemens Networks did badly with an operating loss of 1.6 billion euro at the end of the year.If it had not been the case, then the profit of Nokia would have been definitely a lot higher. With the LTE providing the required infrastructure and with so many global updates on the HSPA carried out ,one would normally expect these companies to do much better, but it just goes to show that there is something extremely wrong with this division of Nokia.

The availabiltity of  a  new version  of Ovi maps for Nokia 97 has been announced .It comes with a free navigation that is guided by voice, making it one of the major updates on application released by Nokia or for that matter,by any other manufacturer ,in recent times .
