Facebook Access not available for BlackBerry users

Facebook Access not available for BlackBerry users on their phones still the ban on the Facebook was lifted in the month of May, 2010. Ban on Facebook and Youtube was imposed by all cellular service providers on the directives of Pakistan Telecom Authority to suspend the internet service facility through BlackBerry services on the Blackberry phones.

The Ban was imposed by the orders of High Court of Pakistan in May, 2010 on Youtube, Facebook and more on displaying over blasphemous caricatures of Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be upon Him). The blackberry users in Pakistan are facing problem for last one month and still cellular service provider companies are charging internet fee from their subscriber. Customer’s are still complaining that they are not able to access the Facebook.

Cellular phone service operators in Pakistan had the stance that they block the services of Youtube, Facebook and other websites on the directives of PTA. BlackBerry phone users can access the internet through GPRs service instead of BlackBerry Internet Service (BIS). Services of BIS were stopped on the orders of regulatory authority to block the Blasphemous content on the internet.

According to Research in Motion (RIM) Technology, unable to restore the service as sites placing blasphemous contents are created on regular bases and it’s not possible to stop publishing such sites on net.  RIM cannot develop separate system for Pakistan in order to follow the instruction passed by PTA.The cellular service provider companies are charging  blackberry subscription charges from their users.
