Google has decided to speed up the rate of releasing new versions of Google Chrome every six weeks

Google is planning to accelerate the rate at which new stable versions of Google Chrome are being released, on ‘The Chromium blog’ Google has announced they now they will be releasing a new version of Google Chrome every six weeks from now to onwards. If it happens so, it may double the velocity at which new versions have currently made available for the users. There are three reasons to increase the speed in relations to the release of new Google Chrome versions, said Anthony Laforge Google program manager.

  • The first reason behind this decision is to make all the features of new versions accessible for the users, as till the up, users have to wait for a long time in order to get an updated version and to able to make the most of new additions.
  • The second reason of this decision is to improve the performance of management development; upon getting a deadline, a program manger would be able to determine that which amount of work needs to be done within given period of time and what’s the best way to ensure the speed the work on a particular product. These all efforts are just because Google wants to plan in an effective and more organized way.
  • The third reason is to pressurize the engineer by giving a deadline so that they can finish working on new features as soon as possible or before the deadline. Previously, the engineer team was given a free hand to either work to meet the deadline or delay the release of new Chrome version, but that way affected users and many other features as well, But now those features which aren’t expected to be completed, can be released as soon as the six week period.

Google has ensured the release of Google Chrome 6.0, 7.0, 8.0 soon; though Google many efforts have been made to keep up the six week cycle, yet there might be few delays from time to time.
