Tritton Ax Pro headphones, geared for gaming

Anyone who plays games knows the importance of having a good audio set-up. This usually means having headphones as compared to speakers not only due to the clarity of sound that can be achieved but also to avoid disturbing other people. This is particularly applicable in LAN sessions where people are bunched together in a single room.

Imagine you are playing an FPS (First Person Shooter) game, like Call of Duty 4 for example, you are sneaking around a corner and you suddenly hear footsteps. Now with most headphones you would have no idea which direction the sound of footsteps is coming from, but with proper surround sound capable headphones, like the Tritton Ax Pro, you will be able to tell the direction from which the footsteps are approaching and be able to react accordingly. This is possible by a combination of 8 speakers (4 in each earcup) that provide you with directional sense using surround sound.
The Tritton Ax Pro headphones are geared for gaming. They are compatible with PS3 (and PS2) and XBox (and XBox 360) as well as your PC and DVD and all other devices with optical digital audio output. The cable has a length of 12.5 feet so you need have no worries regarding that. On the other hand the fact that it is wired means that you will probably get a crick in your neck. However given that wired headphones usually provide better sound quality (and do not weigh as much as they don’t need cells or batteries or charging) and especially since this set uses fibre optic input the Tritton Ax Pro can be forgiven for not being wireless. However it does have the rather hefty price of $180. So you might want to keep that in mind if you are going out shopping for them.
