FACEBOOK, SKYPE TO SHARE COMMUNICATION SERVICES

Facebook one of the  biggest and well known social network site and the largest internet phone service provider Skype are in negotiations to interconnect their respective services, according to the  Wall Street journal.

This union is still to be officially announced by the two giants, this will enable the Facebook users to use Skype by simply connecting through their “Facebook Login accounts.” It will allow users to text message, voice chat and video chat with their Facebook friends from within Skype. These additional functions are incorporated in Skype’s Version 5.0 which is expected to release soon.

This will be a firm challenge to Facebook’s chief competitor Google. Google’s newly launched Gmail Voice calling feature  wasn’t as promising and failed to pose any serious threat to Facebook. In a report issued by comScore Inc., U.S, Internet users spent 41.1 billion minutes on Facebook in August, exceeding Google’s 39.8 billion minutes for the first time since the companies came into existence.
