Activate FaceTime on Unofficial Carriers

If your are one of those iPhone owners who have been trying to use the device on unsupported carriers, then this is your lucky day. Face time officially can’t be activated on alot of different networks. Even if the iPhone can work on other “unofficially supported” GSM networks, FaceTime is still tied to specific carriers selected by Apple and can’t get activated by standard unlocking tools.

This is where MiTime comes for rescure. It is an app recently updated to work with iOS 4.1 and iOS 4.2.1 that allows users to easily activate FaceTime on unsupported carriers. The app will force the iPhone to send two international SMS messages to enable FaceTime on a network that’s not officially backed by Apple.

Follow the guide below to activate FaceTime on your unlocked iPhone 4…

If you’re operating on an unofficial carrier (such as T-Mobile USA), you will need to fully activate your iPhone 4. To do this you must install SAM from Cydia.

Step 1: From the homescreen, Launch Cydia, go to Manage > Sources > Edit > Add, and type in: http://cydia.pushfix.info

Tap on Add Source

Step 2: After you have added the source, go to “Search”, and type in “MiTime”. Download and install.

Step 3: Launch MiTime, Tap on Agree – You will notice that MiTime will start collecting data and will show you a message that it’s compatible, and FaceTime activation is possible.

Step 4: Note down the purchase code, head over to http://mitime.info/purchase, enter the Purchase code, then click on Verify & Purchase and complete the transaction.

Step 5: Once MiTime is purchased, relaunch MiTime. It should say ‘Activated’ & ‘MiTime Purchased’ (pictured below).

Enjoy Facetime with your friends and family with your unlocked iPhone 4!
